About the event

Strange Place for a Stitch is a 3-day intermediate to advanced workshop. Artist Danielle Clough will teach a small class her secret techniques to sew without fabric, as seen in her series What a Racket, which she has been building for 9 years. You will learn to stitch on alternative surfaces. This workshop builds confidence in thinking outside of the pattern and material. Participants will explore colour through a variety of value and palette exercises. This will be followed by Stitch Play, which includes colour blending and creating dimension and texture with thread. By the end of the workshop, participants discover their voice in colour while building skills to continue creating unique designs. Learn to embrace your creative voice while becoming more playful in finding unique surfaces for stitching.

Skill level:

This is an intermediate workshop on embroidery and materials. A general understanding of basic embroidery is helpful.
