Bat!

I made this somewhat psychedelic fruit bat after I created an ink painting of him.

I remember seeing fruit bats in Australia, flying between pink clouds during a tropical lightning storm. The veins of light fired inside the clouds, while the bats glittered around them. The sun was out. The humidity sat on me like a thin blanket, comforting. Until then, I had never understood the majesty of bats. Now I know behind the bad press lies one of the most vital members of our ecosystem. The pollinators of the night.
