Bill Bowerman for Nike HQ

The portrait of Bill Bowerman on expanded metal was created for the Nike HQ in Johannesburg.

I patch-worked the metal salvaged from a scrap yard together to create a 1.2m circle. Working from a black-and-white illustration that was provided, I digitally coloured my references and stitched the piece in colours that would compliment the space.

This work was made with a variety of wool and cotton.

The 23 was created for the Nike HQ in their courtyard court. 

Based on Michael Jordans' number for the Chicago Bulls (and my lucky number too), I wove or nested the number into the fence out of recycled t-shirt material.
