I was commissioned to create this piece of Nelson Mandela and it had been something I had wanted to do for years. I was always so hesitant because it felt impossible to honour a man of his importance. I am very proud to be from South Africa and much of that is attributed to his sacrifices and legacy. We are far from perfect, but his ideals are reflected in the best sides of us.

I created this from an image my dad took during his 46664 concerts. He had the honour of meeting Mandela several times and has told me some great stories about him.
