Silk, the sun and only one thread colour.

There are a few things I thought I would never do - and at the top of that list was being able to work with one colour.

I got the privilege of having this first when embroidering details on Jade Klara's wedding dress.

This kind, funny and incredibly talented angelwoman trusted me with her silk dress and a handful of her sentimental illustrations. You can tell she’s an absolute legend, donning a huge scorpion on a sleeve, and a tiny shell on her collar.

I played with textures and scale to create a non-traditional feeling to these subtle embroidered elements. While stitching, I fell in love with the play of light on the fabric as the sun bounces off the shiny threads. It’s so captivating and makes the fabric feel alive.

The dress had ‘stickers’. The wedding date on the train, their son’s name and bell flowers on a sleeve. A rose sits on her ankle, and a daisy on her back. Their monogram sits on her hip while the huge scorpion covers the arm, balanced by a delicate shell on her collar.
