WHAT A RACKET!
A prickly pear hand-embroidered with layers of thread to create bold and vibrant imagery on a salvaged vintage wooden racket. Referenced from a 1600 sketch, I made this spiky darling in soft and lush merino wool, cotton and silk.
I don't use fabric as backing; these are stitched straight into the strings. Strings on Strings, baby.
The rackets come with their character. Having a history on the courts has given them smile lines and dimples. Their age and imperfections are their charm. Some handles have been replaced.
